Account of a visit to Monticello by Daniel Webster and George Ticknor, [manuscript], 1824.

The recollections, misdated 1825, are an account of Webster's trip to Monticello, but vary considerably from the latter's copy in the New Hampshire Historical Society, Concord, N.H. The visitor describes Jefferson and his daily routine and records several anecdotes related by him including efforts to convince Buffon that he erred in his conclusions about North American wildlife, the passage of the Virginia fast day in 1774, Patrick Henry's education, personality, and influence, and Jefferson's drafting of the Declaration. With the diary is a sketch of the 1st floor of Monticello.
